Sears, Roebuck & Co. and Seneca Camera Mfg. Co.
Two Amateur Photography Guides, early-1900s

Note the similar prices. These guides were a combination of self-help instruction mixed with soft-sell marketing. The cameras, accessories, and chemistry described were often specific to the company publishing the guide.

The Sears guide, in fact, in its introduction to different camera styles fails to mention that there are box (or 'hand') cameras available with which one may use rollfilm. Therefore, all of the rollfilm camera offerings of Eastman Kodak, Ansco, Blair, and other major manufacturers are never mentioned, leading the reader to believe that the only kind of photography is glass plate or cut-film photography.
