No. 3A Kewpie Camera, 1917-1922
Yet another company with a cute product name vying for the amateur camera market. Conley cameras, primarilly sold by Sears & Roebuck, ranged from very simple box cameras to sophisticated professionals' tools. Eastman Kodak scored first and best in 1900 with 'Brownie' cameras, but into the 1920s continued other companies' simple box cameras with similar-sounding names:

The No. 3A Kewpie took postcard sized images on size 125 rollfilm. During the early 1900s, the postcard sized image reached its height of popularity. Many different camera manufacturers all vied for consumer dollars with simple and elaborate postcard apparatus. |
