Sterling Camera Corp., Illinois
No. 2A Buddie Camera, early 1900s

| An uncommon, simple box camera for 116 film from a fairly unknown manufacturer. Manufactured of cardstock, with few metal parts, the "Buddie" was no doubt designed and named to compete directly with the (Kodak) Brownie, (Ansco) Buster Brown, (Conley) Kewpie, and (Seneca) Scout box cameras from the same time period. Although there are no examples of Buddie advertising in the Collection, it is assumed that this camera was marketed primarily to children. |
