Miscellaneous Darkroom Accessories, Early 1900s

Californians might call this mix 'eclectic' - it represents a few different items that were often used in the turn-of-the-century darkroom. On the left is a hydrometer - used for measuring and verifying the density of chemical solutions. The wooden handled double roller was used to remove excess chemistry or water from film or prints during the development process. Resting on top of the roller is a contact printer that would have been used for test exposures, and lastly, a small enameled developing tray, patented 1899, capable of handling 4 x 5 inch or smaller plates.
