Eastman Kodak
Chemistry Bottles, 1890-1930
| The glass bottles on the left are embossed with the EKC logo used by Kodak for many years, along with the slogan 'Tested Chemicals'. They range in size from 2 to 24 ounces. The second bottle from the left still has its contents intact, plus the original lead seal, also stamped with EKC and Tested Chemicals. Unfortunately, all are lacking labels which would have identified their contents. Information from other collectors would be appreciated. | |
| These glass
chemistry bottles pre-date the Tested Chemicals, and EKC embossed logos.
They are embossed solely with "EASTMAN", and "ROCHESTER,
NY", and ounce markings where appropriate.
Although the Kodak Camera appeared in 1888, George Eastman did not change the company name to the now familiar "Eastman Kodak Company" until the mid-1890s. Prior to that, the company was known simply as "The Eastman Company," and even earlier, The Eastman Dry Plate & Film Company." It is likely that these bottles date to the early- to mid-1890s period. |
