George Eastman's Library, Rochester NY
Unused Bookplate,
circa 1910-1930

| When George Eastman's mansion was completed in 1905, he
filled its library with books. Since Eastman was insistent on
organization and regimen in all things, it comes as no surprise that
each book in his library bore one of these bookplates, identifying
ownership and carrying a coded section/shelf location. The image on the
bookplate shows Mr. Eastman sitting in the library, reading a book
before the fireplace.
