Advertisement for the AutoStrop Razor
with George Eastman Testimonial, 1906

In 1914, R.J. Gaisman, inventor of the AutoStrop razor, gave George Eastman the suggestion for Autographic film, from which he realized payments totaling $310,000 from Eastman.

Eastman had written many letters to Gaisman over the years extolling the virtues of his razor. However, when Gaisman printed this advertisement in several publications, and with Eastman's picture, Eastman balked and Gaisman was asked not to use his likeness in further advertisements.
