The Eastman Archive is a collection of items related to George Eastman - inventor, philanthropist, and founder of Eastman Kodak back in 1880 (called the Eastman Dry Plate Co. at the time). Eastman's role in bringing photography to amateurs with his Kodak and Brownie lines defined snapshot photography as we know it today. It is difficult not to feel connected to Mr. Eastman for a few reasons: I am an amateur photographer, the type of photographer Kodak targeted over the years; I am a Rochester, New York native, and the grandchild of an accomplished photographer and lifelong Kodak employee. |
