Century Camera Co.
Advertisement for Revolving Back Cameras, 1904
The Century Camera Company was founded, rather un-ironically, in 1900 as a manufacturer of folding plate, field, and studio cameras. This 1904 advertisement suggests that Centurys [sic] appeal to both experts and beginners alike. An important feature that was definitely a stand-out at the time was that Century Cameras could accommodate Film Packs, Film Cartridges (what we know as rollfilm), or glass plates. Century Camera was purchased in 1903 by Eastman Kodak and went on to be a part of the Folmer Graflex Corporation in the 1920s. |
