Punch was a magazine devoted to social commentary through cartoons. The 1890 cartoon below depicts the nuisance that some people experienced from the surge of amateur photographers everywhere snapping photographs without regard to privacy or taste.

In America and abroad, the phrase 'Kodak Fiend' was applied to many who had purchased one of George Eastman's Kodak cameras. The image below shows photographers of all shapes and sizes snapping photographs at will.
