Some Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About BoxCameras.com

Q.  What is my box camera worth?
A.  Click here for some comments on camera values.
Q.  Why do some pages take so long to load?
A.  It is a necessary trade-off to allow this site to be a visual museum of photographic history. I could remove or make smaller many of the images on the site, but this would lessen the enjoyment of your visit. We hope you will be willing to wait a few extra seconds to allow our detailed color images to load before going somewhere else! Much of the information on BoxCameras.com is found in no other place on the Internet.

Web site design always preaches accommodating the slowest connection speeds and minimum monitor settings. All BoxCameras.com pages are designed to view well on monitors set to either 800 x 600, or 1024 x 768 pixels.

Q.  Is BoxCameras.com a company?
A.  No, this Web site represents the work of one person only, and is strictly not-for-profit. I pay for domain registration, Web site hosting, and use my own time to answer the dozens of inquiries I get every week. The only direction money flows is away from me...
Q.  Are you a camera dealer?
A.  No, a collector only. I part with an occasional duplicate or less desirable item to make room in the collection, but my goal is to accumulate, not to profit by buying and subsequently reselling.
Q.  What is your collecting goal?
A.  It's easier to express what it is NOT: my goal is not to accumulate one of every box camera ever made, but rather to collect those items that are historical important or aesthetically pleasing.
Q.  How many cameras do you have in the collection?
A.  Not as many as one might think - about 110 cameras at last estimate. I would like to hold steady at about 100 to 125 cameras, and gradually upgrade them, de-accessioning items as I go. Overall, I have more than 1,000 different photo-history-related items.
